A museum of international art with a classical portico on Volkhonka Street.

The story of this place

Designed by Roman Klein, the main building opened in 1912. The original displays introduced the history of art in part through casts of famous sculptures.

As the collection grew, original works from many periods joined the teaching casts. Some collections are now in other buildings of the museum quarter.
