The story of this place

Kolomna's stone kremlin was built in 1525–1531. Seven towers and sections of wall survive from the full defensive circuit, so a present-day walk combines fortress remains with the old town's streets.

Inside are Cathedral Square, churches and monastery ensembles from different periods. The kremlin remains a lived-in part of the city: small houses, lanes and museums reveal Kolomna beyond its fortified skyline.
