A church in the old trading quarter, recognisable by tiers of white gables and closely grouped domes.
The story of this place
A St Nicholas church is recorded in the quarter from the 16th century. The present masonry church dates to the early 18th century, with ornament in the older Russian decorative tradition.
Restoration in the 20th century brought back the characteristic rows of curved gables. An Old Believer congregation uses the church today; the exterior is visible from the street.
