The story of this place

The surviving brick walls and towers were built in the late 15th and early 16th centuries. Russian and Italian craftsmen shaped the ensemble, with Cathedral Square at its architectural centre.

Aristotele Fioravanti built the Assumption Cathedral in 1475–1479. Nearby stand the Annunciation and Archangel cathedrals, Ivan the Great Bell Tower and the Faceted Chamber, illustrating distinct strands of Moscow architecture.
