An art collection in the Maraev industrialist family’s house, connected with Serpukhov’s merchant history.
The story of this place
The museum's history begins with the Maraev family's house and collection. In 1896 Anna Maraeva acquired Yuri Merlin's collection, which became an important part of the future art holdings.
Founded in 1918, the museum subsequently received works from nearby estates and other collections. Russian and Western European art can be explored in a historic house retaining its connection with Serpukhov's textile entrepreneurs.
