A park, pond and museum house on the estate of Pushkin’s grandmother Maria Hannibal.
The story of this place
Zakharovo belonged to Maria Hannibal, Alexander Pushkin's grandmother. The future poet spent his summers here from 1805 to 1810, encountering rural life outside Moscow.
The house from Pushkin's childhood did not survive. The present museum building was reconstructed in 1999 for his bicentenary and explores his early years. The old park, pond and nearby Vyazyomy estate are equally important to understanding the setting.
