A pedestrian street between Lubyanka and Red Square. At no. 15 stands the façade of the former Synodal Printing House.

The story of this place

The state Print Yard was established on Nikolskaya in the 16th century. In 1564 it produced the Apostol, the first precisely dated Russian printed book.

The Synodal Printing House later occupied the site. The present street façade dates to the early 19th century. Look at the pale details above the windows before continuing to the trading rows.
